Peter Tessier: The Odds are Out...wanna bet? Bodog's over under point totals are out and there are some intriguing options.

Sort of surprised they expect the Stars to take a small step back from 91 to 89.5 points. I know a lot of teams got better in the west, but I would have guessed they at least stay the same.

Like I said I'm not a sports gambler but have done it. I don't study this stuff and most of my thinking is gut instinct and some simple analysis. I just think often sports books miss on hockey. I'm sure there is some market ineffciency that some one could exploit on sports books with hockey

Agreed on the Preds. I don't think they make the playoffs, but 76.5 is a good OVER bet IMO.

I'm really not much of a gambler either, probably best to stick with being disappointed as opposed to disappointed and broke.

There is certainly the possibility that they're missing something, but they don't build those expensive casinos to give away money.

Come on Buzz Pete ... what's the bet on the Jets at 80.5 pts ?

11/12 and 13/14 they finished with 84 ... prorated shortened season 12/13 would have been 87 (God, how I miss jr high math !)... so, last 3 yrs in Winnipeg = 84, 87, 84

This is the Jets blog ... as the eternal off-season optimist - I'll take the over ... (there's the kiss of death)

I thought about that too- but decided to stay away from Homer type bets. Van might be high at 88.5 too

Looks like there's already been some serious movement, the Isles are up to 85.5, the Preds are up to 78.5 and the Avs are down to 95.5.

My question would be if Vegas is already projecting the Avs to drop 17 points from last year isn't that plenty to account for potential drop off? Taking the under on that seems dangerous to say the least.
